We save the lives of dogs where they have been at serious risk of being put to sleep in pounds, and we take private home animals when their owners are no longer able to care for them.

Complete Application

The first step in the rehoming process is for you to get in touch with us and tell us about yourselves and the animal your interested in. The easiest way to do this is to head over to the the page showing who we have available and click on their profile. The application form can be found at the bottom of the page.

Homecheck

Once your application has been checked by our team we will contact you to arrange a homecheck. We strongly believe that this step is very important. It gives us a chance to check out where the animal will make its home and have a chat with their potential new family in person. In some instances we may recommend one of our other animals might be a better fit for your family, home or lifestyle. However, we will never push anything on you and simply want the best match for you and the animal.

Meet and Greet and Going On Trial

The next step is for you to meet your potential new family member, this can happen a number of times depending on the animal you wish to adopt. Whilst we do our best to make sure all information about the animal is as accurate as possible and a cute picture can be very tempting sometimes meeting face to face can bring up additional questions and its better to sort these out at this stage rather than later. All family members and other pets must attend at least one meet and greet. If all goes well you’ll be offered a trial, where you foster with the view to adopt. This usually lasts 4 weeks to give you all time to settle in and make sure you are happy with the next step.

Adopting your New Family Member

Probably the best stage in the process and the one you’ve been waiting for – adopting your new best friend. Once all the paper work is complete and the adoption donation is paid you can smile, give your new pet a hug and know that you’ve helped to save lives by adopting. We are here to help for the life of your adopted pet.

    What Our Adopters Think

This charity does so much to help animals. They take on cases that nobody else will saving the lives of beautiful pets that people have cruelly treated or abandoned outright. They're always looking out for the best interest of the animals and put their heart and soul into helping every single one. Couldn't ask for a more caring organization.

The dogs at Chesterfield Animal Rescue are well cared for. It shows when you see how they react to the staff. I have fostered & adopted quite a few dogs from them in the past. The staff are kind & considerate to animals & visitors.

We've adopted a number of our cats from Chesterfield animal Rescue, and we'd adopt from them again in a heartbeat, (as long as our current cats agreed to it). They are very professional and caring about the adoption process, and I appreciated the home visit to ensure the home environment of prospective "animal parents" is appropriate.
Definitely top of our list for when we decide it's the right time to bring a 'new' face into the family once again.
